Can I claim expenses for house repair if none of the other owners contributed?

A deeded house in Dade County, FL with five owners (siblings) is in disrepair. One of the owners is paying for repairs out of pocket and keeping receipts. None of the other owners are contributing. Is it possible to recover expenses if the house is sold afterwards?
How much would it cost for foundation repair? House is approx 1200 sqr ft?

we are remodeling a home. the kitchen is really small. in order to make it larger we would need to knock a wall out. the problem is the stairs to teh basement are directly behind that wall. we were told we could easily move the basement stairs to another section; this seems crazy to me. can this be done? easily? we were thinking of moving the kitchen all together to a larger room that is not in use and we were told that it would be much harder to do that then to move the steps. what do you think? anyone have any exp moving steps? seems like a lot of work to me.
How much should I pay in labor for ceiling repair throughout my house?

I just purchased a house requiring small repairs. An associates of my Dad offered to repair my ceiling since the sheetrock were loose and the tapes was coming off. He re-screwed all the sheetrock, caulked (or whatever it’s called to seal the panels sheetrock together), taped and re-caulked. Everything is now sanded and ready for painting. The ceiling looks so much better! I paid for all the supplies. Thus far I have spent less than $120.
The guy worked hard and came in on five different occasions as he needed things to dry before moving onto the next step. He also sealed a door with a frame and sheetrock and the wall looks like it never had a door. Beautiful!
The rooms where he re-did my ceiling are: Living room with dining room (48×57), hall way and stair way, and my bedroom (15×11). He did not quote me a price. He told my Dad that he’ll accept whatever my conscious dictates for all his work.
My question, how much should I pay him?
Wow.. the two answers I just received help me lots! Thanks. I was thinking in the thousands….I was already planning on paying about $1000. Mostly because he would come at night (9pm to midnight). I’m a sucker for good dedicated workers!
He should’ve given me a price, yes. But I think he did it to impress my Dad. I just don’t want to cheat him…..

Looking to help a friend around her house with some repairs. She has a leak in her roof, foundation is falling and windows need some work, plus a winterization plan to help save money via heating bill. Any help would greatly be appreciated!
We have had problems with our refrigerator for a while.
The freezer didn’t seem to be working properly. The ice cream turned “soupy”. The meat in the refrigerator seemed to go bad.
The repair man is here now.
He said the computer chip for the defrosting system was broken.
He showed the accumulation of ice on the back of the freezer. He is using a hair dryer to melt it.
He showed me the computer chip. Said after 6 years anything is liable to happen, just like if a laptop had a problem.
He took out the computer chip and showed it to me. Said he’s sending it in to the manufacturer.
The manufacturer sent his company to my house. It costs $65 for him to walk through the door. Plus, whatever repairs.
What questions should I ask? Is he telling the truth?
By the way, we have a Jenn-Air refrigerator.

Does anyone know anything about foundation repair for a house?

My house has had foundation repair done 8 years ago and the piers had to be re-adjusted recently because they failed. Now the house is cracking in more places after the “adjustment” and they told me I need to spend from $4,000-$8,000 more for more piers. Do I pay for more piers or stand my ground and tell them they should have fixed it right years ago and now that they didn’t the foundation is even more messed up?
There is a lawfirm specializing in attacking this specific company but they are asking for $1,000 fee upfront and I wonder if it will cost me much more with their fees and stress, etc?
Any help will be appreciated!
or would I have to wait till I have paid back the bank to make repairs on the house. Also can a General contractor do plumbing, electrical, drywall, ect. or do I need someone for each catorgory?
The house was built in 1926, has 3 bedrooms, 1.5 story and all original ( wires, plumbing, windows, roof, ect has not been touhed since 1926). Sits on 180×140 lot. Thanks for your help it is both needed and appreciated.

I live in Portland, oregon. I am a low income single mom. My house has been reported to the Portland Development people. I do not have the funds to do it myself or the skills. I do not have credit so a loan could be out of the question. Are there any charitable or church organizations who can help me?

I am thinking of purchasing a fixer upper but would like to know where you would be able to get paint, plaster, concrete, things of this sort in spain. Do they have stores like the states for this?
I have credit card debt of about $14,000 (always paid on time and always more than mininum amount). I would like debt consolidation and money to repair (roofing, gutter & windows)the house with extra monies left over. I have never re-financed the house and pay 8% interest since “92″

I don’t understand why you would tip the pizza guy, but not the dude that gets your TV working again.
Most cable guys are only making $12-$13 per hour and unlike the students who are only supporting themselves, the techs are trying to raise families. It is a good point about the company truck though.
I also don’t think the idiots with bad attitudes deserve a tip. I am talking about the ones who earn it by creating a good experience from a bad one.

My fan just went out and I turned off the unit. I can hear the condenser motor running but the fan won’t come on. My roommate said it was the actual fan motor and it shouldn’t cost more than $150-200 to fix. I just wanted to find out how true that may be. Any help is most appreciated.

My house is plumbed backwards. Water supply lines under sink had to be crossed to make hot, hot. Ease of repair? Is it an easy fix at the water heater, Do they have different types of “Pipes” etc? Cause it takes forever to get the water to turn hot.
