If my lease in my apartment ends in Feb. When is the best time to look for a house to rent?
ByMy husband and I are currently living in an apartment but really badly want to move to a house. We are stuck in the lease until the end of February. When should we start seriously looking for a house to rent? Can anyone help us with a few hints about shopping around for a house to rent?

I’d start looking in January, and hope to take possession of the rental house as of February 1, even though that means you’d be renting two places for a month.
That lets you move in at a leisurely pace, and it gives you a cushion of time if you have trouble finding a place. It also lets you see the rental house in deep winter, so you can tell if it’s adequately insulated, if the furnace works, if snow removal on the street is prompt, if the landlord clears the driveway (if he’s supposed to), and other things you can’t find out in spring.
Where I live, the daily paper isn’t a very good place to find rental houses. The alternative paper (for hippies, green earth people, young people in general, etc.) has much better rental house listings. Craigslist is also good.

Does you current lease
have 60 or 90 days moving notice? Then add 1 month

i’d say right after the new year… That will give you time to look and figure your money out for deposits and such, and time to organize and pack.
you can browse the web for rentals in the area you are looking for even your local news paper usually has a classifieds section which is available on line.
good luck!!!
